Google has added some seriously cool and useful features to both flight and hotel search. Specifically around showing you in an easy to look at the most cost effective options to plan your trips.
For example, Google Flight search now as a grid option to show you flights based on which days you depart and return on. You can tap on "Dates" to see the calendar view of date combinations with the cheapest prices highlighted in green and the most expensive in red. Or if you have a certain length of trip in mind, the price graph allows you to see how airfare varies over time. Just swipe left to see more dates.
You can also see by nearby airport, which airports are the cheapest for your flight options:
Hotel search also added a grid with the same sort of functionality. You can see the nightly rate in the calendar view. Or you can check out price trends for a hotel to see how rates change over time.
These are very useful ways to see the data in search and something I have used a lot on United.com before they did their redesign.
