Bloomberg spotted an update to Google's removal policies noticing Google added a new item they are willing to remove from their search results - your personal medical records. Google added they will remove "confidential, personal medical records of private people."
So if you see that your weird rash medical record is available on Google for a search for your name, you can request Google to make that information go away.
The list of items Google will remove upon request are currently now at six items:
- National identification numbers like U.S. Social Security Number, Argentine Single Tax Identification Number, Brazil Cadastro de pessoas Físicas, Korea Resident Registration Number, China Resident Identity Card, etc.
- Bank account numbers
- Credit card numbers
- Images of signatures
- Nude or sexually explicit images that were uploaded or shared without your consent
- Confidential, personal medical records of private people
Why would this be an issue? Well, you never know if your doctor messes up and exposes your medical records to Google to rank higher in Google for medical cases.
