Google Account Bug Breaks Sign Ins, Google Wifi & Other Services

Yesterday, something bad happened with the Google Accounts system. It isn't clear exactly what went wrong but tons of people had unexpected sign out issues and then were unable to sign back into Google. In addition, these Google Account issues were to blame for Google Wifi and onHub devices bricking and having to be completely reset.

Google posted on several Google Web Search Help threads and Twitter about this. And also posted about the issues on the Google Wifi Help about the Google Wifi device issues.

Google said:

We've gotten reports about some users being signed out of their accounts unexpectedly. We're investigating, but not to worry: there is no indication that this is connected to any phishing or account security threats. Please try to sign-in again at accounts.google.com and if you cannot remember your password, please use this link (g.co/recover) to recover your password. If you use 2-Step Verification, there may have been a delay in receiving your SMS code. Please try again or use backup codes.

I didn't have the sign out issue - so I am lucky there. But I did have one of my Google Wifi devices die - it was easy to reset but concerning. Here are more details on the Google Wifi issue.

Again, Google does not say what other products this bricked or if this impacted Google Search or AdWords. I have seen no evidence of issues outside of Wifi devices and sign in issues at this point.
