Who’s listening? Apple’s new podcast analytic feature knows

As podcasts continue to grow in popularity with consumers and advertisers, Apple has released an analytics feature to help publishers on its platform get a handle on user engagement.

The feature was released in beta in December to give creators more information on who is using their content, and more specifically, how.

Podcast publishers can now see an aggregate of listener information via a dashboard through iTunes Connect. They can get a good idea of trends, as well as more granular information, including the number of hours of listening, time spent listening per device and more.

The release of this feature fulfills a promise Apple made to developers earlier this year when they released the latest version of its Podcast app. A 2015 report by social audio company Clammr said that 80 percent of all podcast listening takes place within that app.
